🍀I really do only wear this thing once a year, on St. Patrick’s Day only lol 🍀 I bought this sweatshirt on clearance from the Mizzou bookstore because I was BROKE but wanted college merch so bad. The fact that was TEN YEARS AGO has me feeling all sentimental 🥲 🍀 Freshman year Maggie had a lot of fears and a lot of hopes. If I could tell her one thing it would be that her hopes come true and even though a lot of her fears do too, she’s tough enough to weather them. Bright Light Language is making a huge switch! ✨ Income based sliding scale pay is now available and I wanted to explain some of my reasons behind this choice. 1️⃣ I want quality therapy to be more accessible to more people. It’s not fair that cost prohibits people from receiving the care they need and as a solo-practitioner I have the freedom to lower costs in the interest of giving more people access 🤍 2️⃣ Being at the mercy of insurance companies doesn’t help me and it doesn’t help you. Denials, code changes, waiting for payment, waiting for paperwork to go through… all of this takes away from spending time on actual therapy. 3️⃣ Insurance doesn’t cover reading support most of the time BUT literacy is a LIFE-CHANGING skill. For people with dyslexia, intensive support is often needed. The cost of multiple weekly sessions can be astronomical. I want to be able to offer this service in a more affordable way! I know this isn’t a perfect solution, and as a new business owner I am constantly learning. But I hope this can help some families! This is a core board for a little one who is new to AAC! A binder like this is affordable, durable, and customizable! I always want to make sure AAC is being used for more than just wants and needs so for beginners I love to model social words and descriptions/comments too! Yes/no questions are not the best place to start for early communicators (it’s a much more abstract concept than most people realize!) but they get used often at school and out & about! Plus, “no” is important to have for teaching and promoting self-advocacy in beginning communicators! There’s plenty of room in the binder for actions, items, and other category-specific icons too 💛 What would you add? #aac #slp #speechtherapy #speechtherapist #earlyintervention
